Logan's going to have to go to school through the summer if this keeps up. This storm was a snow/ice combo so I decided to sleep in a bit before sliding my way down that hill on my bum. Usually Logan tries to talk me into heading to his girlfriend's house, but he didn't park in the garage last night and I think it's going to take some work to deice the truck. I hope he stays out of trouble - last snow day, he decided to give me a new screen saver. This was a great practical joke, I have to hand it to him.
I got in my new mason stains and I'm very excited to try them out except for one hiccup - no water!!! I went down last Friday to zero water in the studio. The cistern pump was not running at all. I have a plumber that I have been working with on my rental property, so I gave Scott a call. The problem is with all this cold, there's a lot of people with frozen pipes. He did get over on Monday, and it was a good thing. I had an order of heart ornaments for Wear Red Day that needed to be glazed that day. I can sand and do slab work without water, but it's impossible to glaze and do wheel work without it. Here's a sneak peek.
For not having water, it's still been a busy week. After sanding and loading the kiln on Friday I headed over to see Lauren at Rose-Hulman. I picked her up from swim practice and we went out to dinner then came back to the hotel room to play cards and watch some comedy central. It was parent's weekend and we had tickets to a show, but the one-on-one time was much better. The next morning she went to practice and I went to a PTO meeting (yes, there is a parent's association at Rose).
So I headed back on Saturday morning and Lauren followed me shortly after that. Rob's birthday was on Feb. 1st. This is the first one without him. His sister, Beth, decided to have a barn party anyway. I had been extremely bummed last week and didn't know how I felt about this. Thursday I had at least a half a dozen melt downs. I took the first happy pill I've had since August, pulled up my big girl panties and went. It was just what I needed - friends and family. Lauren talked my in-laws into hosting the superbowl party again this year (I didn't think that was going to happen since that was usually the day was celebrate Rob's birthday) Even though the game was rediculous, the food was awesome and the company was uplifting. Lauren did her calc homework during the game and had to leave after haltime to go back to school, but it was what I needed to refuel my spirit for the rest of the month. Today was our anniversary and then there's flippin' valentine's day. Luckily February is a short month and I have a lot of things planned.
Funke's Fired Arts is hosting a business class for potters that want to step up their game on Saturday. Milford Art Association is having a photography class for artists next week. I also stopped at Indigenous (a very cool shop that features local artists) and picked up an application. I'm going to a Wear Red event on Friday and Evita at the end of the month. That should keep my mind occupied.
Trying to add a gallery of Superbowl and party pics. Testing.... 1,2,3....
Ok it works. you have to click on the picture to see them all. Not very intuitive.
