I hand throw or form stoneware clay into functional pieces. Each piece is fired, glazed and fired again. I photograph or find historically relevant icons and advertisements that make Cincinnati the unique and lovable city it is. These images are then made into handmade decals and fired one more time into the glaze to make a piece that is permanent, food safe, dishwasher safe and microwave safe.
I work out of my own studio in Maineville. The "gardenhouse" is the original building on my property that was built in the 1800's. I got hooked when a friend from garden club talked me into taking a workshop. The last couple years I have been focusing on how to show off our Queen of a city using my work. I love researching the history as I add more images. I enjoy this media because potters can easily develop their own style and be recognizable in their work.
